Steps to create a CD if you have downloaded Active@ ISO Burner:

1. Download the ISO CD image to a folder on your computer.
2. Insert a blank CD in your CD-RW drive.
3. Run Active@ ISO Burner.
4. Type the path to ISO image file or click Browse button to locate it via standard File Open dialog.
5. Click the [BURN ISO!] button to start the process of writing ISO image to CD

Burning Settings

Click the "Settings" link to open Burner Settings dialog.

Available settings are:

• Finalize Media - after burning is complete performs media finalizing (takes some time)
• Perform BURN-Proof - sets the status of BURN-Proof (Buffer Under RuN error Proof) flag which helps in protection from BURN error
• Perform OPC - sets the status of flag for performing OPC, before burning. Performing OPC is a special technique used in newer CD-Recorders for monitoring and maintaining the quality of the disc writing and ensuring the accuracy of all the mark and lands lengths across the disc. The term Performing OPC actually describes a general process which is also known by several trade names including "Dynamic Power Control (DPC)" and "Direct Read During Write (DRDW)". There may be differences in execution which gives some of these implementations competitive advantages over others
• Default rewritable media erase - if media type is re-writable (CD-RW, DVD-RW, etc.) checking this option will automatically erase media every time before burning starts. If turned off - dialog pops up asking to confirm erase action. Erasing takes some time
• Default Max write speed - if turned on - burner has been set up to use maximum writing speed. If turned off - one step below maximum
• Cache Buffer Size - size of the cache buffer in megabytes. Gives a basic level of Buffer Under RuN Error Protection using software buffers. The data, to be burnt, is kept in the system RAM, before it is burnt to the disc.

Apa itu Torrent

BitTorrent adalah sebuah protokol peer-to-peer yang memperbolehkan user untuk terhubung secara langsung dengan user lain untuk mengirim atau menerima bagian dari sebuah file, melalui sebuah server sentral yang dinamakan "tracker". Tracker ini tidak memiliki atau mengandung informasi tentang sebuah file. Tracker hanya mengatur dan mengkoordinasikan sebuah koneksi diantara setiap peer. Untuk mendownload sebuah file yang berada di protokol BitTorrent, pertama kita harus memiliki aplikasi BitTorrent client yang berfungsi sebagai torrent downloader.

Apa itu torrent?
Setelah mencari tahu lewat Wikipedia, sebenarnya tidak ada istilah "Torrent", melainkan ".torrent", dengan sebuah titik (dot) didepannya, yang mengindikasikan bahwa istilah tersebut mengacu kepada ekstensi sebuah file. File .torrent prinsipnya adalah sebuah file "container" yang berisi informasi tekstual yang diperlukan untuk men-download sebuah file. Informasi yang terkandung dalam sebuah file .torrent antara lain besar ukuran file, nama file, alamat track URL, komentar, dan lain-lain.

Beberapa istilah dalam torrent

Seed/Seeder
Adalah orang yang telah memiliki full copy dari sebuah file torrent. Kategori seeder ini adalah orang yang membuat torrent awal ataupun orang-orang yang telah selesai men-download sebuah file dan secara otomatis meng-upload-nya. Logikanya, makin banyak jumlah seeders, maka presentase keberhasilan download sebuah file makin besar.

Leecher
Adalah orang yang baru saja men-download sebuah file torrent dan sama sekali tidak memiliki sebagian ataupun keseluruhan dari sebuah file. "Peer" juga masuk ke dalam kategori Leecher sebagai user yang sama sekali belum memiliki sebagian atau keseluruhan file.. Istilah "Peer" juga bisa diartikan sebagai "user" atau "client".

Mengapa proses download torrent lambat?
Ada beberapa faktor mengapa proses download via torrent sangat lambat.
1. Cek bandwidth internet anda.
Tentu saja jika bandwidth internet anda kecil, maka proses download menjadi lambat.

2. Peers/seeds yang tidak mencukupi.
Seeds yang banyak jelas akan mempercepat proses download, namun faktor banyaknya jumlah leechers juga akan mempengaruhi kecepatan download. Mungkin kita telah memilih file yang telah banyak berhasil di download, namun jika terdapat banyak sekali Leechers, maka kecepatan download pun akan terbagi-bagi kepada tiap Leechers tersebut.

3. Cek Firewall.
Jika firewall di komputer anda dalam keadaan aktif, maka hal tersebut akan membatasi jumlah peers yang dapat terkoneksi dengan komputer anda. Walaupun anda dapat terkoneksi ke luar, namun anda tidak akan bisa melakukan koneksi ke luar. Set port dari program torrent downloader anda, dan anda akan mendapatkan koneksi yang lancar.

4. Anda tidak cukup banyak meng-upload.
Ingat, bittorrent adalah protokol berbagi. Jika anda tetap keras kepala untuk di berbagi (upload), maka user lain pun tidak akan mau berbagi dengan anda. Beberapa klien bahkan akan memberitahu anda bahwa rasio download yang anda lakukan telah seimbang dengan yang anda upload. Hal ini sepertinya tidak menjadi masalah jika berada dalam swarm yang kecil, namun biasanya akan menajadi masalah bila diapliaksikan ke swarm yang besar. Untuk amannya, usahakan untuk melakukan proses berbagi dengan cara meng-upload file yang telah berhasil anda download sesering mungkin.

Majalah PC Media edisi 05/2008 telah terbit dengan disertai ekstra buku komputer Excel 2007 dan ekstra 1 CD Microsoft Office 2007. Bersamaan dengan itu pula, versi terbaru antivirus kebanggaan Indonesia, PC Media Antivirus 1.2, resmi dirilis ke publik. Pada rilis kali ini, PCMAV mampu mengenali 1.789 virus beserta variannya yang banyak dilaporkan menyebar luas di Indonesia, termasuk di antaranya virus ServMouse dan berbagai varian virus VBS.

Pada rilis PCMAV 1.1 sebelumnya, terdapat bug pada PCMAV Cleaner yang dijalankan pada sistem operasi berbasis Windows Vista. Bug rutin pemeriksaan memory, yang dapat mengakibatkan crash-nya PCMAV bahkan bisa mengakibatkan blue screen pada Vista, kini sudah dapat teratasi di PCMAV 1.2. h.Improvisasi, pada engine bug report yang dapat melaporkan kesalahan yang terjadi pada PCMAV RealTime Protector.

i.Optimasi, pada engine scan dan clean dengan mengoptimalisasi code sehingga bisa diakses lebih cepat, dan diperbaikinya beberapa rutin yang bisa menyebabkan memori leak, serta diikuti dengan penambahan error handling yang lebih ketat.

j.Ditambahkan, heuristic baru yang dapat mengenali varian baru dari virus yang banyak menyebar.

k.Diperbaiki, kesalahan deteksi (false alarm) pada beberapa program ataupun script juga pada pada program yang di-compile menggunakan Quick Batch File Compiler.

l.Diperbarui, perubahan beberapa nama virus mengikuti varian baru yang ditemukan.

m.Perbaikan beberapa minor bug dan improvisasi kode internal untuk memastikan bahwa PCMAV Cleaner & PCMAV RealTime Protector lebih dari sekadar antivirus biasa.

Tutorial singkat ini cocok sekali buat Anda yang sedang membuat jaringan komputer ‘MURAH’ khususnya yang terdiri lebih dari dua client yang pake hub (jauh lebih murah daripada router ). To the point! Apa sih kabel UTP itu? Kabel UTP itu adalah kabel khusus buat transmisi data. UTP, singkatan dari “Unshielded Twisted Pair”. Disebut unshielded karena kurang tahan terhadap interferensi elektromagnetik. Dan disebut twisted pair karena di dalamnya terdapat pasangan kabel yang disusun spiral alias saling berlilitan. Ada 5 kategori kabel UTP. Dari kategori 1 sampai kategori 5. Untuk jaringan komputer yang terkenal adalah kategori 3 dan kategori 5.

Kategori 3 bisa untuk transmisi data sampai 10 mbps, sedang kategori 5 sampai 100 mbps. Kalau hanya buat misalnya jaringan komputer di kantor atau kampus atau warnet, paling hemat ya menggunakan yang kategori 3. Itu sudah lebih dari cukup.Setahu penulis ada banyak merek yang beredar di pasaran, hanya saja yang terkenal bandel dan relatif murah adalah merek Belden - made in USA. Kalau mau yang lebih murah dan penggunaannya banyak, maka beli saja yang satu kotak, panjangnya sekitar 150 meter. Jangan lupa beli konektornya. Konektornya bentuknya seperti colokan telepon hanya saja lebih besar. Bilang saja mau beli konektor RJ-45.

Satu lagi yang sangat penting, Anda harus punya tang khusus buat memasang konektor ke kabel UTP, istilah kerennya adalah “crimp tool”. Alat ini gunanya untuk ‘mematikan’ atau ‘menanam’ konektor ke kabel UTP. Jadi sekali sudah di ‘tang’, maka sudah tidak bisa dicopot lagi konektornya. Dan kalau mau yang lebih OK, biar tidak nanggung maka beli pula sebuah LAN tester. Anda bisa membeli yang merek dari Taiwan saja agar lebih murah. Bentuknya seperti kotak dan ada lampu LED-nya delapan pasang dan bisa kedap-kedip.

OK sekarang peralatan udah siap, penulis mulai saja. Secara umum, pemasangan kabel UTP tersebut ada dua tipe, yaitu tipe straight dan tipe cross. Disebut tipe straight soalnya masing-masing kabel yang jumlahnya 8 itu berkorespondensi 1-1, langsung. Sedangkan disebut cross soalnya ada persilangan pada susunan kabelnya. Bingung?OK! Untuk tipe straight itu digunakan untuk menyambungkan kabel dari client ke hub. Sedangkan untuk tipe cross adalah untuk client langsung terhubung ke client (cpu to cpu) atau juga dari hub ke hub.

Kita bahas dulu yang tipe straight

Tipe ini adalah yang paling gampang dibuat. Kenapa? Soalnya langsung korespondensinya 1-1. Standar urutannya begini (dilihat dari lubang konektor, dari kiri ke kanan - lihat Gambar 4) : 2 oranye - 1 hijau - 2 biru - 1 hijau - 2 coklat . 2 oranye disini maksudnya pasangan oranye muda sama oranye tua dan seterusnya. Tapi tidak usah ikut standar pewarnaan itu juga sebenarnya tidak masalah. Yang penting urutan kabelnya. Misal ujung pertama urutan pin pertamanya oranye muda, maka ujung yang lain urutan pin pertamanya juga harus oranye muda, jadi antar ujung saling nyambung. Sebenarnya tidak semua pin tersebut digunakan.

Yang penting adalah pin nomor 1,2,3 dan 6. Jadi misal yang disambung hanya pin 1,2,3 dan 6 sedangkan pin yang lain tidak dipasang, tidak jadi masalah. Untuk lebih jelasnya silakan lihat gambar di bawah yang penulis foto dari sebuah buku.

Waktu akan memasangnya, maka potong ujung kabelnya, kemudian susun kabelnya trus diratakan dengan pisau potong yang ada pada crimp tool. Andak tidak perlu repot harus melepaskan isolasi pada bagian ujung kabel, karena waktu Anda memasukan kabel itu ke konektor lalu ditekan (pressed) dengan menggunakan crimp tool, sebenarnya saat itu pin yang ada di konektor menembus sampai ke dalam kabel. Perhatikan, agar penekannya (pressing) yang keras, soalnya kalau tidak keras kadang pin tersebut tidak tembus ke dalam isolasi kabelnya. Kalau sudah kemudian Anda test menggunakan LAN tester. Masukkan ujung ujung kabel ke alatnya, kemudian nyalakan, kalau lampu led yang pada LAN tester menyala semua, dari nomor 1 sampai 8 berarti Anda telah sukses. Kalau ada salah satu yang tidak menyala berarti kemungkinan pada pin nomor tersebut ada masalah. Cara paling mudah yaitu Anda tekan (press) lagi menggunakan tang. Kemungkinan pinnya belum tembus. Kalau sudah Anda tekan tetapi masih tidak nyambung, maka coba periksa korespondensinya antar pin udah 1-1 atau belum. Kalau ternyata sudah benar dan masih gagal, berarti memang Anda belum beruntung. Ulangi lagi sampai berhasil.

LAN TESTER - alat untuk memeriksa benar tidaknya sambungan kabel. Untuk tipe straight jika benar maka led 1 sampai 8 berkedip.

Dan kalau yang ini tidak standar, coba perhatikan urutan warna pinnya, sangat tidak standar, tapi tetap saja bisa, yang penting korespondensinya satu satu (khusus tipe straight):

Tipe Cross

Untuk tipe cross itu digunakan untuk menyambungkan langsung antar dua PC, atau yang umumnya digunakan untuk menyambungkan antar hub. (misalnya karena colokan di hubnya kurang). Cara pemasangannya juga sebenarnya mudah, sama seperti tipe straight, pin yang digunakan juga sebenarnya hanya 4 pin saja, yaitu pin 1, 2, 3 dan 6. Yang berbeda adalah cara pasangnya. Kalau pada tipe cross, pin 1 disambungkan ke pin 3 ujung yang lain, pin 2 ke 6, pin 3 ke 1 dan pin 6 ke 2. Praktisnya begini, pada ujung pertama Anda bisa susun pinnya sesuai standar untuk yang tipe “straight”, sementara itu di ujung yang lain Anda susun pinnya sesuai standar buat tipe “cross”.Masih bingung? Begini cara mudahnya:Ujung pertama:

1. oranye muda
2. oranye tua
3. hijau muda
4. biru muda
5. biru tua
6. hijau tua
7. coklat muda
8. coklat tua

Maka di ujung yang lain harus dibuat begini:

1. hijau muda
2. hijau tua
3. orange muda
4. biru muda
5. biru tua
6. orange tua
7. coklat muda
8. coklat tua

Sudah agak lebih mengerti? Jadi disini posisi nomor 1, 2, 3 dan 6 yang ditukar. Nanti jika dites menggunakan LAN tester, maka nantinya led 1, 2, 3 dan 6 akan saling bertukar. Kalau tipe straight menyalanya urutan, sedangkan tipe cross ada yang lompat-lompat. Tapi yang pasti harus menyalasemua setiap led dari nomor 1 sampai 8.OK, selamat membangun jaringan komputer. Semoga Anda bisa berhasil sewaktu memasang konektor pada kabelnya. Semoga ilmu ini berguna buat Anda, soalnya waktu dulu penulis pertama kali membuat jaringan hasilnya lucu sekali, untuk mengupas kabelnya penulis masih menggunakan cutter, padahal sudah ada fasilitasnya di crimp toolnya. Tambah lagi ujung-ujungnya tiap kabel penulis kelupas lagi menggunakan cutter, padahal yang betul tidak perlu dikupas satu-satu, biarkan saja rata, karena nantinya apabila di ‘crimp tool’ maka pin tersebut masing-masing akan tembus ke dalam kabelnya.
